Monthly Plan

SaferWeb’s monthly subscription is priced at $7.49/month and is an ideal package for netizens who do not wish to commit to yearly subscriptions. It is also a great opportunity for subscribers who wish to use the service for a limited time.

Yearly Plan

SaferWeb VPN offers its yearly plan for $5.99/ month (one $71.88 yearly payment) and is an ideal package for those looking to secure themselves all year. It is a recommended solution for families or a group of users, since the service allows 3 simultaneous connections with one account.

2 Year Plan

Possibly on of the best VPN bundles revolving in the industry, SaferWeb’s 2 year plan costs subscribers $120 (one payment every 2 years). This plan offers super premium servers designed for high definition video streaming, high speed internet over public networks and priority connections to all servers. The two year plan comes with all SaferWeb features and is an ideal plan for privacy conscious users.

SaferWeb Multi Login

The number of simultaneous logins depends on the SaferWeb subscription plan you have chosen to purchase. There are two plans as indicated above, the Super Premium and the Premium plan. When subscribed to the Super Premium plan you get the opportunity to use your account over three different devices or three different users can use the same account. The Premium account on the other hand only allows access through one device at a time. Connecting over two devices will simply lead to the connection being denied or disconnected on the active device.

Is SaferWeb Safe?

There is a massive argument over the reliability & safety of SaferWeb as a VPN service. Most users were distraught over the fact that SaferWeb apps install an adware in their devices. This is possibly something the provider is working on and should change in their next update.

I wouldn’t necessarily call SaferWeb a ‘safe’ VPN service per se. This opinion is largely based on the confessions that their privacy policy makes. SaferWeb’s privacy policy exclusively claims that the provider will retain Personal Information, Account Information, Activity Log Files, and extract data from Cookies.

A provider with in-depth knowledge of your online activities, personal identity and online behavior is not really a “safe privacy provider”. Have a look at our list of most reliable VPN providers trending in 2017 (add hyperlink to VPN ranking table if required).

SaferWeb Download

SaferWeb VPN offers top of the line software for most common operating systems including Windows, Mac, and Android with iOS & Chromebook apps in the pipeline. SaferWeb does not allow you to download its desktop apps through the website before subscribing. You can however download SaferWeb apps from the following links:

  1. CNet – Windows & Mac
  2. Softonic – Windows & Mac

SaferWeb’s Android app is available to download from the Google Play Store and does not require you have a SaferWeb account.

Servers

Currently, SaferWeb VPN offers a cleverly laid server network covering over 30 cities (in 6 continents) around the world. The brilliant global network offers 40+ servers to connect through, boasting 10 Gigabit/second network speeds.

Server Status Page on SaferWeb Website

Most accessed servers include those in the US, UK, Germany, Sweden, France and Netherlands. Although the provider does not encourage P2P & Torrent support, their servers are quite capable for handling high speed large file transfers, but be careful as SaferWeb complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and will report users’ downloading copyright content through its servers.

SaferWeb also hosts a dedicated server status page to keep users updated on real time server load and uptimes. You can access the server status page on the official SaferWeb VPN website.

Customer support

SaferWeb offers customer support through three channels namely 24/7 Live Chat, Email Tickets and Knowledgebase articles.

saferweb support reviewed

24/7 Live Chat

SaferWeb hosts a notable 24/7 Live Chat service, with technically sound and very courteous Customer Support Representatives available throughout the day. The only issue is that their waiting times can go all the way up to 15 minutes or more depending on site traffic.

While Live Chat is crucial for SaferWeb, the possibility of servicing customers faster or adding more CSRs must be addressed by the brand.

Email Ticket Service

SaferWeb’s Email Tickets are the best way to get in-depth diagnosis and comprehensive solutions to issues reported by subscribers. SaferWeb users’ can choose the nature of their complaint and provide additional details of the problem. Usually the response time is 24 hours but can escalate to 2 days.

Knowledgebase

Since SaferWeb is a fairly new brand the provider’s knowledgebase is still in its infancy. The knowledgebase provides articles on installation guides, tutorials, FAQs, Account & Billing issues, general queries, and a tips & tricks section.

Payment methods

SaferWeb VPN provides subscribers with multiple payment processing merchants to complete the signup & payment process. For easy 2 step signup, visitors can pay using Credit/Debit cards allowing them immediate access to the service.

In case a subscriber wishes to pay anonymously, they can currently only pay through PayPal with Bitcoin payments soon to come. Available payment vendors offered by SaferWeb include:

  1. PayPal
  2. Credit Cards (Visa, AMEX & MasterCard)
  3. Debit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, Delta, VISA Electron)

Compatibility

SaferWeb is a multiplatform VPN service and offers apps on all major operating systems in addition to providing support for many compatible devices. Desktop and mobile apps are available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Mac, whereas support is available to configure the service on routers, Linux devices, gaming consoles, Blackberry, and Amazon devices.

Desktop & Mobile apps can only be downloaded after signing up to the service.

Protocols and encryption

SaferWeb establishes its offering over higher end online security and identity protection. To fulfill their claim, the provider offers brilliant mix of tunneling protocols powered by robust data encryption methods. Currently, SaferWeb VPN offers PPTP, L2TP/IPSec, OpenVPN and IKEV2 tunneling for subscribers.

Every protocol carries its unique encryption method for instance, PPTP protocol is offered with 128bit keys (good for streaming and downloads) while IKEV2 protocol is offered with 256bit keys (excellent speed with brilliant security). All SaferWeb server connections use 2048 bit keys for certificate authentication.

Log and privacy policy

The most worrying aspect of the SaferWeb service bundle is its privacy policy. While the service maintains a strict ZERO ACTIVITY LOGS privacy policy it retains large volumes of user data. Data retained by the provider includes:

  • Username
  • Email address
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Date of service provided
  • Payment history
  • Payment amount

This data is later used by SaferWeb to deliver advertisements to customers when they visit disputed websites like ThePirateBay, KickAssTorrents, WatchSeries and other entertainment websites. These ad pop ups may also appear on banking and shopping websites.

SaferWeb does not log in any web activities though, so they never know what you accessed on visited websites. Read through the SaferWeb Privacy Policy on their website to know more on how your data is handled by the provider.

SaferWeb Review on Reddit

After a detailed and careful read through several SaferWeb sub-reddits I was amazed to see the brand still operates. Users’ & non-users’ alike were annoyed by several issues posed by the SaferWeb service. Some users even submitted real time SaferWeb reviews establishing that the VPN app installed an adware in their devices, causing a massive stream of ads to show in their browser on every website.

In his personal SaferWeb review on his blog security consultant & Reddit user, Egor Homakov, mentions the adware in detail. While speed and security are not an issue when using SaferWeb VPN, the adware that accompanies the provider’s apps have eventually killed the brand and its hype.

Conclusion

SaferWeb seems to offer a great VPN service, but somehow they lag the commitment to deliver delightful service to subscribers. Lagging customer service, late email responses, disconnection from servers and stringent privacy policies all make the provider not everyone’s cup of tea.

SaferWeb also does not support torrents, so may not be a great prospect for media download enthusiast. We also felt the provider seriously needs to improve its customer service responses and improve on delivering its customer centric vision.

Server connectivity we noted was really convincing. The SaferWeb app is lite on system resources (especially for Windows PC & Android) and offers instant connectivity as shown in our server test results above. We did notice during peak hours that server were unable to create a VPN connection.

There is massive room for the brand to grow and improve. The server network needs massive improvement, because as customers grow the network will show sign of deterioration. The knowledgebase is still young and requires a massive influx of articles and help guides to be more helpful for novice users.

After conclusive testing and in depth analysis of the service, our SaferWeb review for 2016 concludes with a hearty recommendation of the service. We will keep an eye on the brand for now and see how the company improves its complete service offering.

August 2017 – They have closed down the Amsterdam, Chicago, London, New York, Singapore, Sydney and p2p-Netherlands servers – Overall poor service and incompetent help desk. I dropped their services after being unable to obtain connection after a long period of experiencing unstable connections. Oh, and when connection is available, it is generally slow in comparison with their competitors.

Thanks for commenting Kevin. Yes, we are aware that SaferWeb has shut down many of its servers. At the time of the review, the VPN was incredibly reliable, but has now grown into quite the incompetent service. We would advise you to check out PureVPN or ExpressVPN. Both providers offer quite the remarkable reliability, speeds, and compatibility. You’d definitely enjoy using their VPN.

Started using a week ago, till now it has given me no issues with my YouTube videos. I have to travel by train from Cardiff to Bristol every day, my boyfriend said I should always use this to stay safe from hackers since I shop online a lot. Even with my 3G connection streaming is really good and it hardly disconnects on the entire journey. It’s also very easy to use , plus their live chat people are really nice, Cheers SaferWeb.

  3. Matt says:

Installed SaferWeb on my daughters tablet pc, the app is really good and once I connect it never disconnects. I was watching ESPN basketball on her tablet and was awestruck by the streaming speed and the video quality never even had a spot. Going to install it on my own and my wife’s phone.

Thanks for commenting Matt. We are glad to hear that you are enjoying a good experience with the service. Do not hesitate on leaving a complete review. It would give us a better idea on the level of satisfaction its customers have.

  4. Chris says:

I have been using SaferWeb since December last year. Have been captivated by the service, servers are always available and fast, plus the app is simply brilliant on my PC and it’s so easy to use. My son installed the app on my PC, taught me how to use it before anything else and it has never let me down. The service is very fast when I watch the news on BBC or watch my shows on Netflix and YouTube.

  5. Sandra Sully says:

Customer support is trash, tried to have the service configured on my router but they never served me. The service works fine on my laptop and my sisters Samsung tablet, but I wanted to cover the entire family so I tried configuring on my router, they made me to wait 15 minutes then never replied.

  6. Shawn says:

I also unblocked HBO with Safer Web US IP, works as any good VPN should. The apps are magic, so lite on system resources and the one on my Galaxy S6 is so lite I don’t even know it’s connected most of the time. Last time I was using it at work the IT guys found a VPN connection but never knew it was me, I was seriously impressed.

  7. stewardjames says:

SaferWeb’s premium version is really good. I use three devices Windows PC, Android Phone and Apple iPad, the service has never disappointed. Unblocks literally anything online and does it really fast too. Recently, I signed up to HBO NOW with a US IP address, it streams Game of Thrones really fast and HBO website never catches my real IP, so need nothing more, decent service.

  8. Adler Curtis says:

I know read their privacy policy too, too much data is retained but as they say ONLY FOR IMPROVING SERVICES. I started with their free version and when I moved to the premium plan it has been really good improvement in speed. The servers never disconnect so I can always stay connected even at University.

  9. Alan says:

Not too sure about the brand, they retain so much information and say it’s for service delivery. The service is really good no doubt, servers always connect, bandwidth is very nice and no website has ever caught my real IP address.

  10. Steve Smith says:

Their live customer support is not 24/7 like they advertise they go offline after a while. In case you need to talk to them email ticket is the best way to go. The service is actually fast, but not on all their servers. Still waiting for their iOS app to use on my iPad.

  11. james says:

Same, I had the connectivity issue too, but ever since I started using the Germany and France servers haven’t moved away since then. The German server even lets me use utorrent and streaming is EXTRA CRISPY blazing fast. Really like their app on Windows but had to configure manually on my iPhone, good performance. Customer support is not too good though, they made me wait for 15 minutes then cancelled that chat without serving me, I tried email and been waiting for an answer for 2 days.

  12. tomsawyer says:

I began using Safer Web 3 months ago sign up was pretty easy, got instant access and the process was so simple. Now with their servers, connecting to Netherlands and USA is always horrible, but the good thing is when it connects it never disconnects. Their app is really good on my Windows PC and the one on my 1+1 is simply brilliant, they should look up the server connectivity issue, happens usually during the night time.
