With only days remaining, YouTube faces Russian web block if it does not respond to the copyright infringement complaints. The Russian telecom watchdogs, Roskomnadzor, issued YouTube their first warning back in April and a request to take down two TV series that were involution of copyright laws. These TV shows are owned by TNT Network and according to Roskomnadzor, 140 links to this illegal content were found this month.

YouTube being the world’s largest user generated content site has only few days to respond to these allegations and remove the pirated content from its website. If it fails to do so then YouTube pages will be added to registry of copyright violators and also to block-list registry. This would mean that internet users in Russia will not be able to access YouTube.

This won’t be the first time Russian authorities have blocked a website for copyright infringement. The anti-piracy law in Russia now stems to any website that offers illegal or pirated content.
